Use to i tried to keep the elements incorporated to a minimum and to use the innovative image and manual techniques as the references for this process.find the right balance and dimension between the solids and the empty spaces. it is a piece that is both massive and fleeting. therefore, the great challenge was to achieve the correct proportion of each rod to convey this balance that makes the image of the vase appear at certain angles and disappear at others. this piece is the conceptual result of a system of three-dimensional operations: repetition, extrusion, intersection, pixelation. for each of these design operations, there were execution techniques that accompanied it, the most common and important being precision machining. i wanted the passage of time to be visible in the piece through the contrast of eras. the past is safe and appears in the image of the archetype of the vase, something that is tremendously familiar to us. the future is imprecise and appears in the dematerialization that the piece obtains, resembling a hologram. |
