Use to ekobé vase, life that springs from the earth. the vase is an ancestral object that can contain something, but it can also tell us something. the ekobé vase was digitally modeled based on research into the proportions of vases made by indigenous brazilian peoples. it is a tribute to the atlantic forest, the biome with the greatest biodiversity on the planet, and at greatest risk of extinction. in brazil, only 12% of the atlantic forest that originally existed remains, a biome that was deeply damaged by extractivism during the portuguese colonial period, and is currently suffering from deforestation and fires. the animals in the ekobé vase represent a fauna typical of this forest, and are at serious risk of extinction. the ekobé vase, with its mirrored surface, reflects the animals but also reflects the observer and their environment, mixing homo sapiens with other species, to remind us that we are nature, and that nature is us. this mirror vase warns us: in the face of the climate emergency, we need to look at the world from new perspectives, we need to decolonize our thoughts. part of the proceeds from the sale of the vases will be donated to the sos mata atlântica foundation, a brazilian environmental ngo. |
